Jolly Phonics

My feedback of Jolly PhonicsDu Hua-Bin

It’s my first time to hear Jolly Phonics and I was very impressed when the two teachers show us how to teach young learners English with Jolly Phonics. It is a very creative way combining not only the learners’ action but also their imagination. With these skills, learning English is just fun.

When one of the teacher told us that a boy who never read but read after few months with Jolly Phonics teaching, I could see how much the teacher was moved. With Jolly Phonics, learning English is not just fun but also builds children confidence.

In Taiwan, not all the children have chance to learn English well. In the end, they lack confidence and are no longer willing to learn English. Therefore, it is very important to help children build their confidence in English. And I think Jolly Phonics is the best material recommended.

Celeste Musgrave and Tina DiMauro,

We have been in Taipei with Tiny Tots for the past week, conducting English development workshops for teachers. We have focussed on the development of reading and writing in English using a systematic phonics method called Jolly Phonics.  The response we have seen from the teachers has been extremely positive as it is evident of their desire to provide their students with a learning method that is simple, fun and logical. The teachers who attended our workshops could see these elements in the Jolly Phonics program. Most importantly, they could see the significance of learning sounds through a multi-sensory approach. We were very impressed with the level of English from all the teachers we met and we hope that we were able to inspire them.

Throughout the week we also conducted various class demonstrations illustrating several components to the Jolly Phonics program. In particular, the classes we conducted in the Tiny Tots Kindergarten were amazing. The children who have been learning sounds using Jolly Phonics had an excellent knowledge of sounds and were able to use their sounds to read words and construct words needed for the writing process. We found this was very impressive as some of the children were below five years of age.

Tiny Tots as a bookshop and as a Kindergarten does amazing work for the teaching of English to children in Taiwan. We plan to return to Taipei early in July to conduct a series of training workshops for the Jolly Phonics program. For further information, please contact Tiny Tots.

Jolly Phonics

I can read!”(我會讀書了!)
